My First International Mountain Biking Semplang

YEP.  Took a nasty spill. I was extremely careful not to get injured pre-race and during the actual Singapore Standard Chartered Marathon.  Uttered short prayers during the race so that I will not suffer cramps and was extremely happy that I emerged from the race unscathed.

BUT I became careless. Negligent. Too high from the race,  we went to Pulau Ubin island to try the Ketam Quarry trails.  It was probably the excitement of being back in the saddle again and riding a different trail that I miscalculated and thought it wasn’t such a steep downhill.  And then I was off my bike and landed on my left.  Happened so fast when I realized it, I was already standing and removing dirt off me!

It wasn’t anything to worry about. Just laceration and abrasion according to Tsi, the PT grad.  Anyways, it was my third biking spill (2 happened in PH trails, hopefully the last!!!) so I’m already used to washing it quickly with water and continue with my ride. I’ll deal with it when I reach home.

Why don’t we show you the great ride we had?  I was with Owen and Tsi.  Both did the half-marathon.  Owen is already based in Singapore and a super-addict MTBiker 🙂

This is really an excerpt from Owen’s post in Philippine Mountain Bike forum.  Salamat Owen, di na ko gagawa pa 🙂

My small group of mtb buddies wanted to try the La Mesa Eco Trail last August 2.  We are all newbies in mtbiking and have not really experienced bringing our bikes to the wild forest trails.  I’ve been to Filicity Sabak Trails and this 8km off-road place somewhere in Molino but that’s just the extent of my trail experience.

When Allan posted the La Mesa fun ride at the pinoymtbiker forum and invited others to join,  the small group ballooned to more than 70! That week it was raining every single day so I prepared myself for a fun and muddy ride.

We thought majority of those who signed up to join us would all back-out because of the weather but I am pleasantly surprised that there are a lot of bikers who love riding in muddy conditions. Forty mtbikers braved the rain and mud and spent the whole morning enjoying La Mesa.

Posting some photos I grabbed from the forum and from my friend renemartingo. Enjoy!

First people to arrive, obvious ba who are really excited?

Ok ba mudguard ng trailmaster? "Eco-friendly mud guard" as one of the bikers puts it.
