God the Almighty is absolutely amazing.  Of all the sundays where I need to do my first 25k training run, it was scheduled on Nov 16, the exact same date of New Balance Power Race check out the details at takbo.ph! It clearly is a miracle that they have 10k and 25k to choose from!  I’m relatively new to running so I rarely encounter 25k races. I normally see 5k, 10 and in few circumstances,  a half and full marathon.  Am I ever thankful that there’s a 25k offered.

When I first saw my marathon training plan, my worry was where can I do my long distance runs?  I regularly run at Manila Memorial Park and the thought of running around that loop 11-15 times makes me shudder.  Not because of something creepy and scary but I get bored easily if I see the same puntod or mausoleum over and over again. Wouldn’t you feel the same way?

Going back to the subject of this post,  25k runners will get their bib numbers and singlets on race day itself.  When Tsi and I signed up this afternoon at New Balance Glorietta, the staff informed us immediately about it.  Apparently,  the production and delivery of singlets didn’t make it in time for the start of registration.  Oh well as long as I’m officially registered, I’m happy.

At the registration area, we met a couple of runners who are part of a running group called Heavenly Runners based in Molino.  They told us that the club consisting of about 25 runners regularly run at Heaven’s Gate cemetery.  Immediately,  we felt some kinship with them because Tsi and I also run at the cemetery near where we live!  They are also participating at the Botak Paabilisan race tomorrow so I wish them all the best!

My cousin Tsi signed me up to run the 10k Botak Paabilisan run at the Fort tomorrow.  I can’t even remember the last race I joined!  Am a bit apprehensive but excited as well.

The past month I have been pushing myself to follow the marathon training plan I got at runnersworld.com.  And according to my training schedule,  I should do a 16km run but with my participation at Botak,  I  need to make an additional 6kms more after I cross the finish line! 😦  Not something I am looking forward to.   Seeing the chute and the finish line create a very strong picture that tells your body and your mind that you have already finished what you needed to do.  Guess  I really should be strong to convince myself to go for the remaining 6kms.
