The run started out to be good!  It was my first run in 2009 and I’m looking forward to the thrill of running again, being surrounded by people who share the same passion as you do.  I’ve missed seeing the water stations, ribbon strings, the wheezing and the sudden “HAH!” or “HUH!” of veteran runners when they race past you.  All these I experienced last Sunday but I never thought I would encounter the same thing again towards the finish line – an abrupt stop

There was a long line at the finish line for the 10k runners!  Homaygad I thought with so many races last year,  organizers have already calculated and re-calculated and anticipated this scenario. 

I’ve decided to skip that very long line of 10k runners queuing up to the finish and just continue running.  Upon reaching the finish line, I stopped my garmin and jogged to the side.  I don’t mind a DNF status in the official results but it will be tough for first time runners who are excited to see their official time.   What a way to ruin it for them! Let’s all hope that next year’s race will be organized better or we won’t be as bullish as they’d want us to be.
